| CUES Senior Fellow Frank Schnidman has compiled the work of his Spring Semester 2004 “Urban Development Planning Methods” and “Urban Revitalization Strategies” students into an informative collection of research papers dealing with the inventory and analysis of the community and economic development programs of selected Florida local governments. Readers of these papers will learn about each local government, their programs, and where they get and how they distribute the funds that they use for these programs. | |
The papers appearing on this web page were prepared by undergraduate and graduate students Urban and Regional Planning, and are STUDENT WORK done in fulfillment of a course requirement. They are not a graduate thesis which is subject to intense research and review both by peers and faculty. They are not consultant work product which is commissioned to examine a specific task. All of the papers in each course have a required format and students are also required to make a class presentation outlining the findings of their research. Some of these presentations are required to be done in PowerPoint, and those PowerPoint presentations are included along with the research paper. These papers may have been prepared individually or in small teams, depending upon course requirements and the individual decisions of the students.
As stated, these papers are the basis of limited research to fulfill the paper requirement of a single course, and done in accord with a required outline. Nevertheless, the information collected and analyzed provides a valuable contribution to the literature relating to South Florida local government community and economic development efforts. In that spirit, these papers and PowerPoint presentations are being made available for others to read and to benefit from the efforts undertaken by these students. Making these papers available to the public is not an endorsement of their content by the Department of Urban and Regional Planning or Florida Atlantic University.
